Daily Deal: Chicago says goodbye to summer with cultural festival

Chicago visitors can mark the end of summer this week with the Endless Summer Stroll, a street festival with blues, jazz, opera, classical music, rock, steel drums and ethnic musical acts. It all takes place along the city’s Cultural Mile -- and it’s free.
The deal: It’s the first “stroll” to be held along Michigan Avenue from the Chicago River south to Roosevelt Road. Musicians and performers will be stationed at 15 planters/art displays (face sculptures with plants for hair, kind of like giant chia pets) and will include balloon artists, face painters, jugglers and magicians.
When: Stroll events take place 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday followed by a karaoke contest from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m.
Details: The daylong farewell-to-summer event ends with the karaoke contest at the Logan Statue in Grant Park. A panel of judges will pick winning singers every hour. Consult the schedule to find out where acts and activities will be located.
