Boys’ basketball: Oak Park wins Division 3A title

Cole Micek scored 20 points and Michael Alvarez and Robert Vetti each added 18 to lead Oak Park past St. Francis in tonight’s Southern Section Division 3A championship game at Azusa Pacific University.
The fourth-seeded Eagles (21-10) won their first section title by making 8 of 12 three-pointers and scoring 24 points on free throws. Matt Byer had 10 rebounds for Oak Park, which lost all five starters from a team that knocked St. Francis out of the playoffs last season.
Kyle Leufroy had 26 points and Evan Crawford added eight points and 11 rebounds, but no other player scored more than six for St. Francis (19-12), which trailed 28-26 at halftime. The Golden Knights tied for fifth in the Mission League.
