Johnnie Vassar scored 21 points and Dylan Osetkowski and Jayce Johnson each added 16 as San Juan Capistrano JSerra won the Southern Section Division 4AA boys basketball championship with an 83-62 victory over Westlake Village Oaks Christian on Friday night at Azusa Pacific University.
“We knew we were going to win, but I didn’t know if it would be by 20 points,” said Johnson, a 6-11 sophomore transfer from Mater Dei. “We’ve been coming together as a group all season. We hadn’t played them but our coaches scouted them and we all knew what we had to individually and as a team.”
