The water polo rivalry between Harvard-Westlake and Santa Ana Mater Dei resumed on Saturday in the championship game of the Santa Barbara tournament.
Harvard-Westlake, ranked No. 1 in Southern Section Division 1, defeated No. 2 Mater Dei, 10-8.
It was a sweet victory for Wolverines, who played without standout scorer Johnny Hooper. Hooper couldn’t play after receiving a penalty misconduct from a physical semifinal win over Loyola.
Picking up the scoring slack were Morio Saito, Ben Hallock, Duncan Froomer and Evan Rosenfeld. They each had two goals.
