Lonzo Ball is true to his word.
The Chino Hills point guard committed to UCLA as a sophomore and has stuck with that commitment.
On Thursday, he will finally make it official with an 11:30 a.m. signing ceremony at Chino Hills.
“This is something I’ve been waiting a long time for _ 18 years,” said Ball’s father, LaVar.
He’s the father of three sons, all of whom are committed to UCLA. Junior LiAngelo won’t be signing until next November. And his third son, LaMelo, is a freshman guard at Chino Hills.
This season will be the first and final season all get to play together on the same high school team.
“I’m totally proud of all of them,” LaVar said. “It’s happened so fast.”
Wednesday is the first day of early signings for all sports but football, soccer and men’s water polo. Lots of schools will be having signing ceremonies.
At Santa Ana Mater Dei, 12 athletes will be signing, including basketball player Michael Cage (Oregon), baseball player Josh Stephen (USC) and girls’ basketball player Ally Rosenblum (UCLA).
