Precious Nwaba, a 5-foot-8 junior guard, comes from a sports family that is well known at L.A. University. Older brothers David and Victor were basketball standouts and sister Barbara was a star in track. Nwaba is pretty good in basketball, too.
She scored 21 points, including 14 in the decisive second quarter, to help University defeat Roosevelt, 46-40, in the City Section Division II championship game on Friday at Roybal.
Her second-quarter performance helped University outscore Roosevelt, 22-4, to take a 32-19 halftime lead.
Lizette Lopez added 11 points for the Wildcats (19-13). Allissa Gomez scored 12 points for Roosevelt (13-9).
