Football: St. John Bosco faces top team from Oregon
- Share via
Jason Negro, the St. John Bosco coach, apparently likes seeing different teams from different states.
The Braves started their season in Hawaii against Honolulu St. Louis. Next up on Friday is the top team from Oregon, Central Catholic, which went 14-0 last season and won its opener, 24-17, over Jesuit in a rematch of last year’s 6A championship game. Then it’s on to Nevada, where the state’s No. 1 team, Bishop Gorman, awaits St. John Bosco on Sept. 26.
Central Catholic should offer a test on defense for the Braves, because top athlete Cameron Scarlett is being recruited by Pac-12 schools.
But the Braves aren’t No. 1 in Southern California for nothing. Their offense continues to pick up steam, with the ability to pass or run making the Braves very difficult to stop.
