What a month of September it was for Anaheim Servite. Victories over Long Beach Poly, La Mirada and Edison on Thursday night, 31-14, means the Friars are on the move.
Tate Beachley rushed for 108 yards and one touchdown and Nick Lopiccola gained 76 yards and scored two touchdowns to help the Friars improve to 3-1. They’re off next week before a showdown game on Oct. 5 against Concord De La Salle at Santa Ana Stadium.
Quarterback Travis Waller passed for 87 yards and had 27 yards rushing, including a touchdown. Servite took advantage of two fumbles and an interception.
Kiante Goudeau had a 97-yard kickoff return for a touchdown for Edison (2-1).
Servite played most of the game without its best linebacker, Jack Savage, who didn’t play after the first series because of an injured shoulder.
St. Francis improved to 3-0 with a 49-20 win over La Mirada. Joe Mudie rushed for 129 yards and two touchdowns and caught five passes for 73 yards and one touchdown, plus had a 99-yard kickoff return for a touchdown. Ty Gangi completed 16 of 26 passes for 216 yards and two touchdowns. He also ran for a touchdown.
