Football: Salesian to play Loyola for first time since 1975
- Share via
L.A. Salesian and Loyola are separated by just 6.9 miles, but they haven’t met in a football game since 1975. The two teams are scheduled to resume their ties on Friday with a nonleague game at L.A. Valley College.
Loyola has a 5-3 lead in the series. The two schools almost became league rivals when Salesian was placed briefly into the Mission League until winning an appeal and joining the new Angelus League this season.
Loyola is 3-0 and trying to tune up for next week’s Mission League opener against unbeaten Chaminade.
Salesian is 2-1 and trying to get a feel what it’s going to be like playing in a more competitive league this season.
