Football: Paraclete is going for its ninth Southern Section title

In Lancaster, there’s no high school that has been as successful in football as the Paraclete Spirits. Coach Norm Dahlia has his team seeking a ninth Southern Section championship in Friday’s Mid-Valley Division final against host San Dimas.
It’s a pair of 9-4 teams, and both will be trying to stop the running game.
San Dimas has been piling up the rushing yards in the playoffs behind Joseph Mayorga, who has 1,712 yards rushing, and Fausto Martinez, who has rushed for 1,196 yards.
Paraclete already has accomplished plenty in denying Monrovia a fourth consecutive title. It was the Spirits and kicker Andrew Jimenez who ended the Monrovia streak last week when Jimenez made an 18-yard field goal with 39 seconds left for a 22-21 victory.
Paraclete will turn to Melquise Stovall, who rushed for 206 yards and two touchdowns in the semifinals.
