Football: Narbonne is No. 1 seed for City Section Division I playoffs

To no one’s surprise, Narbonne has been seeded No. 1 for the City Section Division I football playoffs that begin on Friday.
Birmingham is No. 2, Garfield No. 3 and Dorsey No. 4. Results from Friday influenced the seeding committee to make some changes from the original Calpreps rankings that are used as a key criteria. Garfield defeated South Gate, 26-25, and Dorsey defeated Crenshaw, 35-34, to move up.
The pairings:
No. 16 Eagle Rock at No. 1 Narbonne; No. 9 South Gate at No. 8 San Pedro; No. 12 Sylmar at No. 5 Taft; No. 13 Carson at No. 4 Dorsey; No. 14 El Camino Real at No. 3 Garfield; No. 11 Banning at No. 6 Crenshaw; No. 10 Venice at No. 7 Arleta; No. 15 Palisades at No. 2 Birmingham.
First-round games are Friday. The championship game is Dec. 5 at Cerritos College.
Division II pairings:
No. 16 Bell at No. 1 Los Angeles; No. 9 Huntington Park at No. 8 Granada Hills; No. 12 Westchester at No. 5 Jefferson; No. 13 Lincoln at No. 4 Canoga Park; No. 14 Washington at No. 3 Fairfax; No. 11 Rancho Dominguez at No. 6 Gardena; No. 10 Cleveland at No. 7 Grant; No. 15 Bernstein at No. 2 Chatsworth.
Division III pairings:
No. 16 Chavez at No. 1 Belmont; No. 9 Monroe at No. 8 Reseda; No. 12 Franklin at No. 5 Legacy; No. 13 Dymally at No. 4 West Adams; No. 14 Marshall at No. 3 Manual Arts; No. 11 Wilson at No. 6 Marquez; No. 10 North Hollywood at No. 7 Kennedy; No. 15 Van Nuys at No. 2 Hollywood.
