Football: Loyola sophomore linebacker Jackson Sirmon has 10 sacks.

If the Mission League had a newcomer of the year award, it would go to sophomore outside linebacker Jackson Sirmon of Loyola.
He has 10 sacks on the season going into a showdown game at home on Friday night against Bishop Amat.
That’s an impressive achievement considering he played on Loyola’s freshman team a year ago.
Sirmon, 6 feet 2, 209 pounds, is the son of USC linebacker Coach Peter Sirmon. He’s like Clay Matthews rushing the passer these days.
“He’s getting comfortable at the position,” Coach Marvin Sanders said. “He does a great job studying offensive tackles and seeing how they’re going to block him. He’s relentless going after the football.”
