Football: Let’s give credit to Edison for taking on Servite and Mater Dei

The best thing that Huntington Beach Edison has on its side is its coach, Dave White.
He never makes excuses and every season, he challenges his players by having them play private schools such as Anaheim Servite and Santa Ana Mater Dei.
While other public school coaches have thrown in the towel, White believes his players can compete with Servite and Mater Dei. And they have.
Last season, Edison lost to Mater Dei, 21-7, and lost to Servite, 31-14.
In 2012, Edison lost to Mater Dei, 20-14, and defeated Servite, 6-0.
On Friday, Edison plays Servite at Cerritos College. Then next week, it plays Mater Dei at Orange Coast College. Both are good games to see where Edison might be going this season. The Chargers are 3-0 and haven’t been tested.
Quarterback Matthew Gane has passed for five touchdowns. The team’s best player is receiver-defensive back Jake Favreau, who has 16 receptions and six touchdowns.
