With a 4-0 start and a no-huddle, spread offense that is putting up big passing numbers, L.A. Wilson could be emerging as the favorite to win the new City Section Division III championship.
Quarterback Chris Perez, a 5-foot-11 senior who has been on varsity since his freshman year, has passed for 972 yards and 10 touchdowns. Last week against Alhambra, he was 19 of 31 for 231 yards and one touchdown.
His top receiver is Jerry Hernandez, who has caught 24 passes for 326 yards and five touchdowns.
