Darius Vines is three-sport athlete who makes a difference

By the time he graduates from high school, sophomore Darius Vines of Ventura St. Bonventure could have more varsity letters than he’ll know what to do with.
He was the Seraphs’ outstanding backup quarterback in football who filled in capably for Ricky Town when Town was injured for a few games in the fall. He passed for 290 yards against Alemany.
He played for the varsity basketball team and is now playing for the varsity baseball team. That’s a three-sport athlete in an era when seasons are so long that going from sport to sport is very difficult.
Giancarlo Stanton was one of the few to successfully pull it off during his days at Sherman Oaks Notre Dame. He was a standout receiver in football, a forward in basketball and an outfielder in baseball.
Matt Byer of Oak Park has been a standout in football, basketball and baseball. Daniel Belton of South East is doing the same.
Vines could be the next.
