Football: Crespi’s Marvell Tell is setting the standard at safety

College recruiters coming to Encino Crespi will be able to compare the best safeties around after seeing Marvell Tell.
His scholarship offers are up to 15, including UCLA and USC, Coach Troy Thomas said.
“The guy is one of the most serious as far as football goes that I’ve been around, but he’s also serious about his academics,” Thomas said. “It’s real cool.”
Thomas said Tell is closing in on 6 feet 3 and weighs 186 pounds.
“He’s getting bigger,” he said. “When he matures, he’ll be a huge individual.”
Thomas plans to try to feature Tell in a variety of ways this fall.
“You might see him playing some wildcat. You might see him playing everywhere. He’s working very hard,” Thomas said.
Two other heavily recruited Crespi players are linebacker D.J. Beavers and 6-5, 288-pound lineman Vaimoe Sekona.
