Boys’ basketball: Sylmar’s Bort Escoto is nearing a first

In his 19th season of coaching basketball, Bort Escoto of Sylmar is on the verge of doing something he’s never done before _ make it through an entire season without getting at least one technical foul.
He has four games left in the regular season, and his biggest challenge could be Saturday’s nonleague game against host Sun Valley Village Christian.
Is Escoto mellowing or is the officiating better?
That’s a question still to be decided.
