Boys’ basketball: Pairings released for Fairfax State Preview Classic

Fairfax Coach Harvey Kitani has released the matchups for his one-day Fairfax State Preview Classic on Jan. 31, and he sure didn’t take the easy way out.
Fairfax, the City Section Division I title favorite, will play powerful Chatsworth Sierra Canyon in the 7 p.m. game, one of eight on the day at Fairfax.
The schedule: El Segundo vs. Rolling Hills Prep, 9:30 a.m.; Calabasas vs. Harvard-Westlake, 11 a.m.; Durango vs. Santa Monica, 12:30 p.m.; Lawndale vs. Price, 2 p.m.; Bishop Montgomery vs. Loyola, 3;30 p.m.; Gardena Serra vs. Windward, 5 p.m.; Sierra Canyon vs. Fairfax, 7 p.m.; Chino Hills vs. Maranatha, 8:30 p.m.
