Boys’ basketball: It’s the game every official wants to work

When Harvard-Westlake plays Santa Monica on Wednesday at 8 p.m. in a Santa Monica tournament game, the officials won’t have to worry about giving out a technical foul to either coach.
Harvard-Westlake’s Greg Hilliard has never received a technical in 39 years of coaching. Santa Monica’s James Hecht is on his way to catching him, with no technicals in 20 years of coaching.
How do they stay so calm when calls don’t go their way?
“It’s not in my nature,” Hecht said. “I think the officials are doing the best they can.”
