Baseball: The Warren ‘Phantoms’ are looking good
- Share via
Perhaps Downey Warren should change its nickname from Bears to Phantoms, as in Cathedral Phantoms, because there’s a big Cathedral influence.
Former Cathedral Coach Scott Pearson has three of his former players on his roster _ pitchers Alan Trejo and Byan Duenas and catcher Julian Perez.
Perez, a senior, had to sit out last season after transferring. Duenas, a junior, will sit out until April. Trejo sat out about a month last season. All are top players for a team that’s beaten Loyola, JSerra and Lakewood in winter games.
Perhaps they were part of the players to be named later in a trade, since the Cathedral basketball team has three former Warren players on its roster.
Warren returns seven starters. Trejo and Duenas are both San Diego State commits. The Bears are the pick in the San Gabriel Valley League and figure to challenge for a Southern Section title.
