Baseball: The class of 2017 is getting early rave reviews

They haven’t played a single high school baseball game, but the class of 2017 already has at least five payers committed to colleges and who knows how many more will be offered.
Infielder-pitcher Hunter Greene of Sherman Oaks Notre Dame was the latest freshman to end the recruiting process when he committed to UCLA last week.
He joins another freshman, catcher Hagen Danner of Huntington Beach, who previously committed to UCLA. Freshman pitcher Nick Pratto of Santa Ana Mater Dei (see above photo) is committed to USC. Freshman pitcher Chad Plant of Upland is committed to UC Santa Barbara. Freshman outfielder Jonny Deluca of Agoura is committed to Oregon.
Of course, these players can always change their mind. They can’t sign a letter of intent until November of 2016 at the earliest. And if they develop really well, they might not even make it to college.
But the early commitments by players continues a trend of coaches identifying players earlier than ever.
