Baseball: ECR’s Jeremy Polon shuts out Marshall, 6-0

Sophomore left-hander Jeremy Polon struck out five and allowed three hits in El Camino Real’s 6-0 victory over Marshall on Monday. Edgar Vela had three hits and Eric Yang contributed two RBIs.
In Arizona, Harvard-Westlake suffered its first defeat, losing to Horizon, 1-0, in eight innings. Jack Flaherty struck out 14 and allowed two hits in seven shutout innings, increasing his two-year scoreless streak to 41 innings.
Santa Barbara picked up a 1-0 win over Chicago Marian Catholic. Trevor Moropoulos threw 6 shutout innings.
Cal State Northridge signee Matt Campbell struck out five and allowed four hits in Simi Valley’s 3-1 win over Oregon Clackamas. Tristan Friedl had three hits.
Burroughs defeated California, 3-2. Aidan Anding had two hits.
San Clemente defeated Capistrano Valley, 7-1. John Sheaks allowed no earned runs in six innings. Chris Puckett had three hits.
In the first game of a doubleheader in Stockton, Mater Dei defeated St. Mary’s, 5-2. Josh Blank had two RBIs. In the second game, St. Mary’s won, 3-0.
