Baseball: Former Crenshaw Coach Major Dennis dies [Updated]

Major Dennis, who was the baseball coach at Crenshaw High for 22 years until his retirement after the 2009 season, died on Saturday in Artesia after a heart attack. He was 74.
Dennis also coached Crenshaw’s girls’ basketball team to six City Section championships. He was an important contributor in helping top male and female athletes move on to college and the pro level.
He is survived by his wife, Stella, and six children.
A funeral will be held Wednesday, Oct. 2, at 11 a.m. at the Bible International Fellowship Church, 400 East Kelso in Inglewood.
