Baseball: After 27 innings, Long Beach Wilson is 2-0

To say that Long Beach Wilson has pitching depth might be an understatement.
On Saturday, the Bruins defeated Agoura, 1-0, in 12 innings.
On Tuesday night in a Moore League opener against Long Beach Jordan, Wilson won, 4-3, in 15 innings.
The Bruins were so exhausted after getting the winning run in the 15th inning that players walked out of the dugout to celebrate.
Tyler Radcliffe, who was supposed to start Friday against Lakewood, threw nine shutout innings of relief with 10 strikeouts.
Playing at Blair Field under lights with its big dimensions makes it a pitcher’s ballpark, with games capable of going on and on as long as teams make the routine plays.
Wilson Coach Andy Hall praised the improvement being made at Jordan under new Coach Roger Penticoff. “Their new coach has done a fantastic job,” Hall said.
Hall said the 15-inning game “was the longest I’ve ever coached.”
Friday’s game against Lakewood is set for 6:30 p.m. at Blair Field. It could be another long evening, but the Bruins have plenty of pitchers left.
