Baseball: Loyola pulls out victory with 10-run seventh

Trailing, 6-1, Los Angeles Loyola scored 10 runs in the top of the seventh on Friday to defeat Chaminade, 11-6, in a Mission League game.
Stephen Dubb had two hits in the inning, including a three-run triple to break a 6-6 tie. Chaminade used five pitchers in the seventh. Dubb finished with three hits and three RBIs. Loyola improved to 6-1 and 2-0.
Sherman Oaks Notre Dame defeated Alemany, 3-1. Graham Mekjian threw five shutout innings. Freshman Hunter Greene had an RBI single. Mikey Wilson had two hits and two RBIs. Harvard-Westlake (8-0, 2-0) defeated St. Francis, 14-3. Ezra Steinberg went four for four. Tyler Urbach had two hits and three RBIs.
In the Sunset League, Huntington Beach received a three-run home run from Logan Pouelsen in an 8-4 victory over Newport Harbor. Fountain Valley knocked off Los Alamitos and ace pitcher Jacob Nix, 7-4. Daniel Platzlaff had two hits and scored three runs. Brock Lundquist had a key two-run single. Edison defeated Marina, 6-4.
In the Century League, Esperanza scored four runs in the ninth inning to break a 1-1 tie and defeat El Dorado, 5-3. Harrison Pyatt, Misael Serna, Nick Ono and Jacob White each had two hits.
In the Foothill League, Hart (8-0-1, 2-0) defeated Valencia, 3-1. Nick Valaika and Wes Fitzpatrick each had RBI doubles. Paul Ruchan threw 2 1/3 innings of scoreless relief. A.J. West threw a complete game in West Ranch’s 7-1 win over Golden Valley. Jagger Rusconi went three for four with a home run. Saugus defeated Canyon, 2-0. Anthony Donatella threw 5 1/3 shutout innings. Saugus pitchers threw consecutive shutouts this week.
In the Trinity League, Kevin Thomsen, Griffin Canning and Nick Meyer combined on a four-hitter to lead Santa Margarita past Orange Lutheran, 8-0. Canning contributed a three-run home run. Sean Cox threw a complete game in Mater Dei’s 5-1 win over St. John Bosco. Bryan Call had two hits and three RBIs. Brandon Perez also had two hits.
In the Marmonte League, Nick Noack struck out five in 6 2/3 innings to lift Westlake past Thousand Oaks, 2-1. Chris Radinsky got the save. John Glenn had a home run for Thousand Oaks. Agoura defeated Calabasas, 3-1. Daniel Cipriano had two RBIs. Matt Lautz threw a complete game.
Chase Frederick threw five shutout innings in Moopark’s 4-0 victory over Newbury Park. Simi Valley handed Royal its first loss, 9-1. Shea Berry (2-0) got the win. Jake Whipple had a three-run double.
In a battle of unbeaten Southwestern League teams, Temecula Valley (6-0) defeated Vista Murrieta, 6-1. Burke Mitchell allowed one hit in a complete game. Mitch Kemp had three hits. Kyle Plantier had a home run. Vista Murrieta dropped to 7-1. Great Oak stayed unbeaten with a 4-1 win over Murrieta Valley.
In the Channel League, sophomore Kevin Gowdy struck out seven, walked none and threw a two-hitter in Santa Barbara’s 2-1 win over Ventura. Gowdy is a UCLA commit. He’s 3-0. Buena defeated Dos Pueblos, 6-4.
In the South Coast League, Daniel Harris allowed six hits in Capistrano Valley’s 3-1 win over El Toro. Tesoro defeated Mission Viejo, 8-7.
In the Sierra League, South Hills handed Chino Hills its first defeat, 4-2.
In the Sea View League, San Clemente defeated Laguna Hills, 3-2. Kolby Allard struck out 14 batters in five innings. Dana Hills handed a rare defeat to pitcher Kyle Molnar in defeating Aliso Niguel, 8-4.
In the East Valley League, North Hollywood completed a sweep of Verdugo Hills with a 4-2 victory over the Dons. Ryan Ruiz threw a complete game. Tyson Turner and Camden Bickel had two hits apiece. Arleta defeated Monroe, 6-2. Mike Galindo threw a complete game with eight strikeouts. Nate Casillas had three RBIs.
Peninsula defeated Crespi, 5-0. David Odle threw five shutout innings. Brett Weisberg and Edward Haus had two hits apiece.
In the Olympic League, Village Christian defeated Whittier Christian, 6-0. Chris Davidson struck out eight in a complete game.
Alhambra defeated Schurr, 2-0. James Giambalvo allowed one hit in five innings and struck out seven. Marco Briones struck out five in two hits and had a single and triple.
Baldwin Park defeated San Marcos, 4-0. Jordan Palacio threw a three-hitter. Justin Padilla had a two-run triple.
Warren improved to 5-0 with a 2-1 win over Carson. Keaton Freire threw a two-hitter with nine strikeouts. He retired the last 11 batters in order.
