Cubs 5, Dodgers 2
AT THE PLATE: Dee Gordon was two for three with a run-scoring triple — his third of the exhibition season. Alex Guerrero, who replaced Gordon at second base, hit a two-run double to left-center field in the seventh inning. Miguel Rojas, who entered camp with a reputation as a subpar hitter, raised his average to .409. He was two for three with a pair of doubles.
ON THE MOUND: Paco Rodriguez, Chris Withrow and Jose Dominguez each pitched a scoreless inning. Jamey Wright had a rough day, giving up four runs and four hits in one inning. Wright’s sixth inning included a throwing error by Yasiel Puig and a two-run home run by Luis Valbuena.
EXTRA BASES: Puig returned to the lineup a day after taking 10 at-bats in a minor-league intrasquad game. The extra hitting didn’t help; his spring-long slump continued. He was hitless in four at-bats, dropping his average to .152. Puig was visibly frustrated, breaking his bat after flying to center field in the eighth inning.
UP NEXT: vs. San Diego Padres at 1 p.m. at Camelback Ranch, vs. Chicago White Sox at 7 p.m. at Camelback Ranch. On the air: TV: SportsNet L.A. (White Sox game only). Radio: 1020 AM (Spanish; White Sox game only).
