Mark Cuban calls ESPN’s Chris Broussard an ‘idiot’ over DeAndre Jordan tweet

Before the Clippers played the Dallas Mavericks on Wednesday, a reporter asked Mavericks owner Mark Cuban about errant reports surrounding the DeAndre Jordan free-agency saga in July.

Cuban’s response: “You mean Chris Broussard? Yeah, he’s an idiot. I take that back. My sources say he’s an idiot.”

When reports surfaced that Jordan had changed his mind about joining the Mavericks five days after giving them a verbal commitment, Broussard, an ESPN analyst, took to Twitter to report on Cuban’s reaction.

Wrote Broussard in July: “CORRECTION: Sources: Cuban beside himself. Driving around downtown HOUSTON begging (thru texts) Jordan’s family 4 address to DeAndre’s home.”

Cuban said there was no truth in that, and after some verbal sparring between the two men, Broussard eventually issued Cuban an apology.

Tweeted Broussard: “Regarding my Wednesday report: I should have attempted to contact Mark Cuban before reporting what my sources were telling me. I always try to carry myself with honesty and integrity both personally and professionally. I recognize that I tweeted hastily, I’m sorry for it, and I will learn from my mistake.”

Cuban apparently has not forgiven Broussard. Then again, Cuban is not known for letting things go when he feels wronged.

Jordan issued an apology to Cuban over Twitter. Cuban’s response, via Cyber Dust: “When is an apology not an apology? When you didn’t write it yourself. Next.”
