Newport Lightning Basketball Club 10U wins ACES Coca-Cola Tournament

The Newport Lightning Basketball Club’s Fourth-Grade Black team won the prestigious West Coast ACES Coca-Cola Tournament Gold Division championship last month in Orange County.
The NLBC beat the San Diego Rebels and SV Stars in pool play to move into the semifinals, where they faced Bay Area Transition and BFT beating both in very competitive games.
In the finale NLBC beat a tough PSA Vikings team to capture its first championship of the summer season.
The Lightning relied on a great team effort led by Mikey Wein, Vanis Buckholz, Tommy Griffin, Hunter Schimmelpfennig, Asher Hamilton, Adam Garza, Tyler Li, Levi Darrow and Zach Cohen.
The team was coached by Jeff Hamilton and Joe Schimmelpfennig.
