Boys’ Volleyball: Sage’s Drobenko makes first team

Sage Hill School junior middle blocker Zachary Drobenko is the lone Lightning player to garner first-team All-Academy League honors in boys’ volleyball.
Drobenko led Sage Hill (5-15, 5-7 in league) to a fourth-place finish in league and the wild-card round of the CIF Southern Section Division 4 playoffs.
Sage Hill junior Matthew Chen was honored on the second team, while freshman Shane Larimer is an honorable mention.
St. Margaret’s Matt Nicholas is the Academy League MVP.

Locals honored by Orange Coast League
Costa Mesa High sophomore opposite Mason Tufuga and Estancia junior outside hitter Kaena McReynolds received first-team All-Orange Coast League honors in boys’ volleyball.
Tufuga keyed the Mustangs’ sweep of the Battle for the Bell series against Estancia for the second straight season. Costa Mesa (6-12, 3-7 in league) finished fifth in league, ahead of last-place Estancia (1-23, 0-10).
The second team featured Costa Mesa senior outside hitter Sean Comer and Estancia senior middle blocker Seaver Sanchez.
Laguna Beach’s Jack Wyett was named the Orange Coast League MVP.
