BRIEFS:Breakers suffer third straight loss on road

SACRAMENTO — Lindsay Davenport gave the Sacramento Capitals a big boost Saturday in her first match since giving birth to her first child last month.

She won in mixed doubles, 5-1, and in women’s doubles, 5-2, to help lead Sacramento to a 23-13 victory over the visiting Newport Beach Breakers.

Davenport, who won three Grand Slam titles, dealt her former World Team Tennis team its third straight loss on the road. Davenport is the sister-in-law to the Breakers’ Rick Leach, as she is married to Leach’s brother, Jon. Davenport and Mark Knowles defeated Rick Leach and Michaela Patikova in mixed doubles.
