COSTA MESA — Sophomore Abby Scheafer was supposed to pitch for the Eagles’ junior varsity team Monday.
But when varsity pitcher Josie Flores pulled a muscle, Scheafer was called upon, and she overcame a bout of nervousness to threw a no-hitter in the four-inning nonleague game Monday at Estancia.
Scheafer had two strikeouts.
Kiele Brown and Nichole Amaya each went two for two. Brown had a triple and drove in three runs, while Amaya had a double and two RBIs for Estancia (3-2).
