Gang unit investigates Costa Mesa knife fight

The Costa Mesa gang unit is investigating a fight that ended in the arrest of three youths in the 2200 block of Miner Street around 5 p.m. Friday, police said.

The three who were arrested reportedly threatened one juvenile victim with a knife, Costa Mesa Police Sgt. Bryan Glass said Saturday.

Glass did not know the ages of the four people involved.

Police could not comment further because the incident is under investigation.

Teenager hit by car on Harbor Boulevard

A 13-year-old boy was taken to Western Medical Center in Santa Ana on Friday evening after he reportedly darted into the street at Harbor Boulevard and Wilson Street to avoid traffic, Costa Mesa Police Cpl. Dave Makiyama said Saturday.

The unidentified boy complained of pain to his hip and head and had visible scrapes and swelling to his forehead. The driver was unhurt.

The vehicle was going southbound on Harbor Boulevard when the unidentified boy ran in front of traffic.

Witnesses at the scene said the motorist was not at fault, Makiyama said.

The driver did receive a fix-it ticket for not having proof of insurance in the car.
