Vazquez earns honorable mention

vazquezUC Irvine women’s volleyball standout Amanda Vazquez was named All-America honorable mention by the American Volleyball Coaches Assn.

Vazquez, who was voted to the AVCA All-West Region first team, led the Anteaters in kills (409), service aces (34) and in total blocks (114).

She is the third Anteater player to be named all-region and was also an All-Big West Conference first-team selection. Vazquez was named to two all-tournament teams this season, earning the Most Valuable Player title at the UCI-Holiday Inn-Costa Mesa Sunset Classic.

Vazquez moved into the No. 2 spot in the program’s career records with 337 block assists and eighth in service aces with 98. She holds three of the top 10 spots in season block assists.
