Fake bill arrest leads to more charges
Cypress residents Rosendo Pulido and Renee Sidoti were arrested
Aug. 12 on suspicion of passing counterfeit money in Huntington
Beach, officials said.
Huntington Beach Police were flagged down by a Good Guys
electronics store employee who showed the officer a
suspicious-looking $100 bill, which the officer determined was
counterfeit. Police detained Pulido at the store on Beach Boulevard
and then apprehended his alleged accomplice, Sidoti, in the parking
lot of Norm’s restaurant on Beach Boulevard.
Before police stopped her, police report that Sidoti threw a bag
out of her vehicle, police said, that it contained false
identification cards, some drug substances and more counterfeit
money.
Police called the Secret Service because of the large amount of
counterfeit bills involved in the investigation.
When authorities searched the suspects’ Cypress home, they found
two stolen motorcycles, thousands of dollars of counterfeit money in
various denominations, false IDs, several credit cards and credit
information on several victims of identity theft, burglary tools and
copy and scanning machines, along with a computer.
Pulido was charged with burglary, identity theft, passing
counterfeited money, counterfeiting and possession of stolen
property. Sidoti was charged with identity theft, possession of
drugs, possession of stolen property and counterfeiting, police said.
Armed man holds up Taco Bell
An armed robber posing as an employee held up a Taco Bell in
Downtown Huntington Beach on Wednesday, police said.
At about 9 a.m. Wednesday at the Taco Bell on Pacific Coast
Highway and 9th Street a man introduced himself as a former employee
or a worker at a different Taco Bell to the manager, Huntington Beach
Lt. Ed Deuel said. He then pulled out a gun and demanded money,
getting away with an undisclosed amount of cash, Deuel said.
Police are looking for the man, described as about 25-years-old,
with dark hair, a poor complexion and a mustache. Police said he is
5-foot-6, weighing about 170 pounds with a skinny build. He
reportedly wore a collared black shirt and Dickies pants.
Garden Grove man missing after swim
A Garden Grove man was reported missing by his wife on Tuesday
after he failed to return from a swim at Huntington City Beach,
police said.
Ha Son Pham left his home in Garden Grove to go swimming at the
beach sometime between 5:30 and 7 a.m. Tuesday, police said. His wife
filed a missing person report in the afternoon after he did not show
up for work.
Police found Pham’s vehicle near Pacific Coast Highway and 17th
Street, and police have not found any evidence suggesting foul play
or drowning, Lt. Janet Perez said.
Police said Pham is 5-foot-5, weighs 115 pounds and has black hair
and brown eyes. Anyone with information on his whereabouts is asked
