Coco may be the prettiest canine in town and Frankie the handsomest,

but Heritage Escrow was the top dog in the chili cook-off Sunday.

The 7th annual Laguna Beach Pet Parade and Chili Cook-off was held

at Tivoli Terrace, sponsored by the Laguna Board of Realtors.

More than 70 pets were entered in the pet parade. Besides the

awards for good lucks, Xena, a Chinese pug was voted most talented

and Remington, owned by Lisa Cuddy, was voted cutest small pet. Sid

Vicious, owned by Brian O’Rourke had the best costume.

Veterinarians James Levin and Susan Davis, Design Review Board

members Suzanne Morrison and Ben Simon and Karen Crosbie judged the

pet parade.

Mayor Toni Iseman, Councilman Wayne Baglin, Police Chief James

Spreine, Planning Commissioner Anne Johnson and Bevins Hunt judged

the chili.

Heritage, Escrow scored a hat-trick in the chili cook-off, awarded

first place for best chili, the People’s Choice and for best booth.

Pet parade judge Crosbie was the cook.

Second place went to Joni Fontaine’s recipe entered by Pickford

Escrow. First Team Nolan came in third with Judy Hammond’s recipe.

Rick Gold of Prudential California Realty-Glenneyre, Carolyn

Haines of Heritage Escrow. And Larry Wilson of Prudential California

Realty-Ritz Cove co-chaired the event.

More than 450 people cooked and/or sampled chili, paraded or

applauded pets.

The event raised $9,000 to benefit Friends of the Sea Lion, the

Laguna Beach Animal Shelter and Blue Bell Foundation for cats.
