Highlights: Wheeler had a monstrous game against La Quinta as

Laguna Beach rolled to a 50-7 nonleague victory. The two-way starter

had one touchdown reception and had two interception returns for

touchdowns. The latter is a single-game school record. He is just the

fourth player in school history to record two career interception

returns, joining Dick Burt (1946), Chico Eckman (1956) and Dave

Cottingham (1962).

Coach’s comments: “Jake had a phenomenal game -- two interception

returns for touchdowns and a TD pass reception,” Dave Holland said.

“He had one spectacular catch in the corner of the end zone on a fade

route. He played both offense and defense, on the kick team and he

was hardly ever off the field. He just did an outstanding job.”
