Lindquist headed to Monterey Bay

Joey Lindquist, who recently graduated from Estancia High, will play
basketball for Cal State Monterey Bay next season, Eagle boys
basketball coach Chris Sorce said Tuesday.
“He pretty much got everything paid for, which is really nice,”
Sorce said of Lindquist’s scholarship.
Lindquist, a 6-foot-8 center for the Eagles the past two years,
earned second-team All-Golden West League honors this past season
after averaging 12.4 points per game. Lindquist averaged 11.5 ppg. in
his junior season on his way to collecting second-team All-Pacific
Coast League laurels.
“He’s just scratching the surface as far as basketball is
concerned,” Sorce said. “He has been working really hard. He started
a little late in basketball, so he’s behind in that sense. But he’s
starting to catch up and starting to become a well-rounded player.
I’m really proud of his accomplishments.”
The Cal State Monterey Bay Otters, who finished 15-15 last season,
play in the NAIA and will be under the direction of first-year coach
Bill Trumbo, the athletic director of the school.
