Breakers baseball ends

The Laguna Beach High baseball team saw its 2003 season come to an
end on Wednesday as the Breakers lost to University High, 8-1.
The Breakers and Trojans were tied 1-1 through four innings in the
Pacific Coast League game when University brought in seven runs in
the bottom of the fifth inning to pull away.
Laguna was out-hit in the contest, 11-3.
Jonathon Cedeno got the start in his final game for Laguna and the
loss left the senior 4-2 for the season.
He threw the first four innings before being replaced in the fifth
by junior Conley Sampson.
Another senior, Brian Beck, finished the year as Laguna’s top
hitter with a .429 batting average.
Laguna ended league play with a 5-10 record.
The Breakers were 7-15 overall.
In softball, Laguna finished league play at 2-8 and 9-13 overall.
The Breakers’ Hilary Frimond concluded the season as one of the
county’s top hitters.
Frimond held a .574 batting average and hit seven home runs.
