Estancia boys and girls win

Junior Jason Johnston displayed his versatility winning four events
to lead the Estancia High boys track and field team to an 86-40
Golden West League victory over host Orange Thursday.
Junior Erika Plietez (100 and 200 meters), senior Diana Rosete
(1,600 and 3,200), senior Amanda Abbott (long jump and triple jump),
junior Nancy Castro (shot put and discus) and senior Ludi Valdez (400
and 300 hurdles) doubled to lead the Estancia girls team to a 107-14
victory.
On the boys side, Johnston won the 110 hurdles (16.1), 300 hurdles
(43.6), long jump (20 feet, 4 1/2 inches) and triple jump (40-2).
Senior Humberto Rojas doubled for the Eagles, winning the 800 (2:02)
and 1,600 (4:31.0).
Sophomore Alex Cahuantzi (3,200), junior Nick Koreerat (200) and
senior Zack Novak (high jump) were also winners. Cahuantzi set a
personal record in the 3,200 (10:18.4), while senior Joey Lindquist
had PRs in the shot put (44-4 1/2) and discus (121-1), finishing
second in both events. The Eagles improved to 3-0 in league.
On the girls side, freshman Ashley Rodriguez (800) also added a
victory as Estancia won every individual event and both relays to
improve to 2-1 in league.
