Lightning strikes twice

Senior Michael Fitzhugh and junior Kevin Joyce combined for 43 of
Sage Hill school’s 49 points, leading the Lightning boys basketball
team to a 49-40 Academy League win at Capistrano Valley Christian.
Joyce scored 10 of his 20 points in the fourth period, while
Fitzhugh scored eight points in the final eight minutes, accounting
for all the Lightning’s points in the last quarter.
Fitzhugh also grabbed 10 rebounds and dished out four assists, as
Sage Hill improved to 7-9, 2-1 in league.
In the girls’ game:
Sage Hill was a 42-37 winner to improve to 9-3, 1-2 in the Academy
League.
Freshman Debbie Yoder-Lee led Sage Hill’s attack with a
season-high 16 points. She also had four steals and five rebounds.
The second quarter proved decisive as Sage Hill claimed a 14-4
edge.
Katie Puishys had 11 rebounds and Haywood Wright had seven blocks.
The Lightning’s defensive pressure on Capo Valley’s leading scorer
was decisive. “Franz averages 24 points a game,” said Capo Valley
Coach Shanna Renkin. “She can put it up over anybody and we shut her
down (15 points).”
