Golden West College will present a workshop on alternative careers for
nurses and teachers. The event will be held from 9 a.m to 3 p.m. Saturday
at the college’s Administration Room 137. The program fee is $52; a
material fee is $6 and is payable at the seminar.

Enrollment open at preschool program
The Huntington Beach Union High School District Adult Education
Program will sponsor Parent Participation Preschool. Openings are
available at Perry Elementary School and Murdy Park. Parents also have
the opportunity to attend free seminars in effective parenting.

Toddler program open at adult school
Early Childhood Education classes are offered for parents of 1- and
2-year-olds at the Huntington Beach Adult School. Toddlers attend one
morning a week with a parent and participate in exploratory crafts and
field trips designed to enrich child development. Parents learn about
child development and how to better handle the stress and joys of
parenting.

Golden West alumni honored for accomplishments
Six Golden West College alumni were honored as Pillar of Achievement
recipients Oct. 4 for their exceptional accomplishments as professionals
and community volunteers.
The recipients are Carolyn Jones Baustian, Dawn Ohlendorf Braithwaite,
David “Doc” Goldstein, Tony Kawashima, Rita Simonton and Don Testa.
The award recipients shared their succes stories during the 10th
annual Courtyard of Honor ceremony and discussed how their education led
them to success.
Seminar to guide computer buyers
Golden West College will host a seminar on selecting, buying and using
computers, from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. Nov. 9 in Community Center Room 109.
Participants will learn the advantages and disadvantages to buying, as
well as the best way to buy a computer. The fee is $36, and $6 for
handouts, which is payable at the seminar.
