Elegantshopping.com! Need we say more?

OK, well, here’s the deal. Elegantshopping.com is a Costa Mesa company

that sells women’s styles over the World Wide Web.

What designers, you ask? The likes of Barbara Lesser, Tessuto, Icon

Apparel and Vivienne Tam.

The company promises the experience of browsing its site will be “akin to

walking down Rodeo Drive with just as much glamour and style, but more

affordable.”

A rather bold claim, it must be said. There’s not much glamour in Web

surfing, at least the way we do it.

The advantage, though, is that you can visit Elegantshopping.com while in

your pajamas at 2:30 in the morning. Try doing that on Rodeo Drive.

AGAIN WITH THE WEDDINGS ...

We’re still bent out of shape about a recent study claiming that

etiquette was out of fashion at weddings (see your carefully clipped copy

of Retail Roundup from two weeks back). Fortunately, we note that Barnes

& Noble South Coast Plaza will be stepping in to cast some light into the

darkness of the age of barbaric weddings.

The store will be holding a seminar Saturday at which attendees will

“learn how to throw a modern wedding shower,” using “simple, yet

great-looking crafts” and other secret techniques.

Will the course teach you how to live your life in the absence of

etiquette? Indeed, is such a thing possible? No. And no. But it will

offer “menus, decorating ideas, and creative projects.” These days, that

may be the best one can do.
