An attempted robbery last week sent a Huntington Beach resident to the
hospital with a gunshot wound to the hand, police said.
The suspect, armed with a 9 mm handgun, entered the victim’s apartment on
Apel Lane on Wednesday night demanding money, Huntington Beach Police
Sgt. Richard Butcher said. A fight ensued after the victim resisted his
demands.
Devin M. Cruz, 22, of Fountain Valley was arrested at the scene, Butcher
said. The victim has been identified as Tyson Aistrich, 23.
During the altercation, three shots were fired. Aistrich was hit in the
hand, and Cruz was hit in the leg, Butcher said.
Both men were nursing their injuries when police arrived on the scene.
Aistrich remains in stable condition at Huntington Beach Hospital, said
Debra Culver, a spokeswoman for the hospital.
