Mets, Cubs winners in Minors play

The Mets turned back the Indians to lay claim to the Minor A
Division championship and the Cubs won the overall title in Minor B
Division action by topping the Dodgers as regular-season play came to an
end Saturday at Huntington Valley Little League.
MINOR A DIVISION
Mets 12, Indians 7
The Mets wrapped up the best-of-three series as Kyle Ammons went 3 for 4
with a double, Race Parmenter and Paul McBeth each finished with two hits
and Marcus Breit and Chas Boule each doubled.
Michael Bogard went 2 for 3 with a double and Clayton Prestridge doubled
for the Indians.
Mets 5, Indians 3
Behind the three-hit pitching of brothers Chase and Alex Barnes, the Mets
took the opening game of the series. Alex Barnes also delivered a two-RBI
double, Paul McBeth went 2 for 2 with a double, and Anthony Vidal drove
in two runs.
The Indians also received strong pitching from Justin Thompson and
Michael Bogard, who allowed just four hits, while Clayton Prestridge went
2 for 2 with a double and Sean King singled.
MINOR B DIVISION
Cubs 8, Dodgers 2
The first-half champion Cubs, who staked their way to a 3-0 first-inning
lead, claimed the overall division title by denying the Dodgers the
second half championship. Ryan Little went 2 for 3 with a double and also
pitched three scoreless, hitless innings.
Dave Folger and Anthony Valenti each added RBI doubles.
The Dodgers’ Johnny Olive broke up the Cubs’ no-hit attempt with a
double.
