Irrelevant Week XXV Countdown
An all-new Irrelevant Week Arrival Party will mark an important
milestone in the festival of football frivolity dedicated to the NFL’s
last draft choice as the wacky, weeklong event grows up this year and
turns 25.
Amid the blue from the ocean and sky will be a blanket of green for
Irrelevant Week XXV as Northwestern (La.) State free safety Michael Green
is made into a king in Newport Beach, beginning with the June 19 Arrival
Party at the Newport Dunes Waterfront Resort at 5:30 p.m. -- the first
time the kickoff celebration has been hosted by the Dunes.
The guest list for the fabulous Arrival Party could top 500, according to
event founder Paul Salata, as Mr. Irrelevant is welcomed to the Newport
Beach community through public proclamations, special guest-celebrity
well-wishers and a figurative “shower” of gifts, which in the past has
included everything from an expensive watch to a hardcover book titled
“The Longshot.”
The Arrival Party, produced by the Commodores Club of the Newport Harbor
Area Chamber of Commerce, will feature food from local restaurants,
cocktails, live jazz with the Windmill Orchestra and a chance to
socialize and network.
Green was drafted 254th and absolutely dead last by the Chicago Bears.
Irrelevant Week details: (949) 263-0727.
