Cardinals beat Angels, win title

Needing to win two games to be called champions, the Cardinals did

just that as they defeated the Angels twice to win the Mustang Majors

Division championship in Fountain Valley Youth Baseball action.

In Monday’s title deciding final, the Cardinals (16-4-2) pounded out

13 runs on 14 hits in a 13-6 triumph. Malcolm Purdy went 3 for 3, Bryse

Blake, Calvin Drummond, and Kelan Stuart each had two hits, Ian Marolt

doubled with an RBI, and L.J. Little had a hit and RBI.

Starting pitcher Drummond allowed just one run in three innings, and

reliever Stuart ended several Angels scoring threats. Defensively, Purdy

and catcher Stephan Robb led the way.

The Cardinals evened the best of three series on Saturday by scoring a

10-3 victory as Matt Empting had two RBI, Jared Mendez doubled twice,

Lane Stone and Robbie Coy each had two hits, and Stuart tripled.
