AYSO Region 57: Under 14 girls squad wins Irvine Cup

IRVINE - The AYSO Region 57 girls under 14 soccer team from Corona
del Mar went undefeated at the Irvine Cup Tournament last weekend.
In Game 1, CdM knocked out Palos Verdes, 3-2. Elizabeth Almaraz scored
two goals, while Kellie Flint added a single tally.
Flint added two more goals in CdM’s 2-1 win over Pasadena, while Shana
Goldberg and Danielle Morreale assisted in the scoring with solid ball
control.
In the semifinals against Aliso Viejo, Almaraz scored three goals, while
Brooke Bergner, Priscilla Swenson and Flint each added single goals in
the 6-1 win, moving CdM into the finals.
Almaraz recorded her second hat trick of the tournament, while Flint
scored her fifth of the tourney in the 4-0 win.
Anchoring the defense throughout the tournament was Sara Draffin and
Samantha Burns.
The CdM squad will compete in the National Games, which begin on July 4.
Prior to that tourney, CdM will compete in the Irvine Invitational June
24-25.
