We asked people on Balboa Island: What do you think about the city’s
traffic law?
“I’d be really curious to know what impact the ordinance would have on
small business owners. We are already taxed too heavily. But I think
there is enough information out there on the topic. People just have to
choose to read it.”
MARTHA PHILLIPS
Balboa Island
“I don’t think developers should be responsible for city street
improvements. If they get a permit to develop then the city knows traffic
is going to increase. If they don’t want the traffic then they shouldn’t
give the permits.”
JOYCE MC ELROY Balboa Island
“I think we need to curtail the traffic. I got something in the mail
about the TPO and I’ve already returned it. They are not explaining this
well enough. It was very confusing. I read it over and over again.”
SALLIE PARNKOPF
Balboa Island “I signed up on the petition. I am all for it. I have
lived here 28 years and I have seen dramatic, negative changes due to
traffic. I think the council has been bought by the developers. It just
has to stop.”
PAUL MURPHY
Corona del Mar “I think the developers can afford to foot part of
the bill. They own too much. They should pay to get us some more streets
and improve the infrastructure. They have plenty of money. It’s almost a
monopoly.”
