PANORAMA CITY - The Estancia High baseball team was single-minded
Monday, stringing together 17 hits, all singles, to dispose of St.
Genevieve, 16-2, in a nonleague game at the Valiants’ diamond.
The visitors (3-6) posted seven runs in the opening inning and scored in
the next four frames, before the game was halted after five, due to the
10-run mercy rule.
Sophomore Jordan Hart went 4 for 5 with a pair of RBIs to pace a
collection of hitting standouts for the Coach Doug Deats’ squad.
Senior Matt Mueller was 3 for 3 with three RBIs, sophomore Justin Lund
was 2 for 3 with two RBIs, senior C.K. Green was 2 for 3 with an RBI and
sophomore A.J. Perkins was 2 for 4 with four RBIs.
Green, the starter, pitched two scoreless innings, striking out four,
before Deats elected to preserve him for Friday’s Pacific Coast League
clash at University.
David Akiva earned the win with two relief innings, before Hart finished
up.
The Eagles face nonleague visitor Cathedral High today at 3:15 p.m.
