Waves earn two the hard way

The Wave of AYSO Region 5 (Fountain Valley) began its five week
journey in the Area K Boys Under-10 All-Star soccer tournament the hard
way, claiming a pair of one goal victories Saturday at J.R. Peterson
Elementary School in Huntington Beach.
The Wave needed a come-from-behind effort to win its tournament opener, a
2-1 decision over Region 55 (Central Huntington Beach). Fullback Max Volz
got the Wave even in the fourth quarter by scoring on a 30-yard direct
kick, and two minutes later, Richie Unfried drilled home the game-winning
goal.
In their second game, Ufried scored the lone goal of the match as The
Wave held off Region 143 (West Huntington Beach), 1-0. Goalies Volz and
Jordan Black combined for the shutout.
